A Journey through History and Heritage:
🍁THE CANADIAN FLAG
Before Adopting our Current National Flag, Canada used several other Flags, including the British Union Jack, and the Red Ensign with the Canadian Coat of Arms.
In 1964, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson initiated the Search for a New National Flag, and the Final Design was Created by George F.G. Stanley and John Matheson.
The Simple and Striking Design Features a Single Red Maple Leaf in the Center with Red Bars on either side, Symbolizing the Country's Unity and Natural Beauty, and was Approved by the House of Commons on December 15, 1964, and by the Senate on December 17, 1964.
The National Flag of Canada, often referred to as the "Maple Leaf," was First Raised Officially, on February 15, 1965. This Date is now Celebrated Annually as National Flag of Canada Day.
By adopting this Beautiful, Unique and Recognizable Flag, Canada Established a Powerful Symbol that Resonates with its People and Represents the Nation's Journey towards Unity and Independence.

PETS and FIREWORKS
Fireworks can be a Source of Anxiety and Stress for many of our Companion Pets due to the Loud and Sudden Noises.
We thought we would include our Fur Babies in our Canada Day Celebration!
Here are some ways Pet Parents can help their Companion Pets cope with the Noise:
🐶Recognize the Signs - How Pets React to Fireworks:
Fear and Anxiety: Pets might exhibit signs of Fear such as: Trembling, Hiding, Excessive Barking or Meowing, and trying to Escape.
Physical Symptoms: Some Pets might experience Drooling, Panting, Pacing, or even Vomiting.
Behavioral Changes: Changes in behavior like Increased Clinginess or, Conversely, Aggression can also occur.
🐱Tips to Help Pets Cope:
Create a Safe Space with a Quiet Room: Set up a Quiet, Comfortable Room where our Pet can Retreat. Include their Favorite Bed, Toys, and some comforting items like an Old Piece of Clothing that smells like us. Close Windows, Doors, and Curtains to help Muffle the sound of Fireworks, and Play Soft Music or White Noise to help Drown Out the Noise. Retreat to the Lower Level if you can, where the Noise is less heard.
Provide Comfort: Pets can pick up on our Anxiety. Stay Calm and Provide Reassurance with Gentle Petting and a Soothing Voice. Wrap them in their Favorite Blankie and Hold and Rock your Baby saying Sweet Everythings to them.
Distract with Activities: Engage in Play with their Favorite Games and Toys. Mental Stimulation can help Divert their Attention from the Noise. Give them a long-lasting Chew Toy or Treat, which can be both Distracting and Comforting.
Use Natural Anxiety-Reducing Supplements: Consider Rescue Remedy, a Natural Calming Supplement to Alleviate their Anxiety.
Ensure Safety: Keep Pets Indoors during Fireworks to Prevent them from Running Away in Fear. Make sure our Pet is Wearing their Collar with an ID tag and that their Microchip information is Up-to-Date in case they Escape.
By taking these Steps, Pet Parents can help Minimize the Stress and Anxiety that Fireworks can cause for our Fur Babies.
