What is Forest Bathing?

Forest Bathing, known as "shinrin-yoku" in Japanese, is a Therapeutic Practice that involves BEing One with Nature especially in a Natural Forest Environment, and MINDfully experiencing the Sights, Sounds, Scents while engaging all of ones Senses.

The practice of Forest Bathing originated in Japan in the 1980s and is Universally recognized for its Health Benefits. Being in a Forest and letting all of its Natural Beauty and Splendor Bathe upon you is how the term came about.

Albert Einstein was quoted as saying 
"Look deep into Nature, and then you will understand Everything better."

MINDful Presence

When in a Forest Surrounding, just BE with everything there.  BE fully present and in the moment. 

Observe the Colours, Shapes, Textures.  Notice the smallest of things and tiniest of Creatures. Take in all of the Magnificence of Mother Nature in all of her Glorious Forms. 

Stop and just BE.  Stop and Breathe in the Fresh Oxygen that the Forest is giving us.   

Be ONE with the Forest.  This is Forest Bathing.

Sensory Experience

Forest Bathing is a Practice of engaging with the Forest and Mother Nature.  It's a Holistic experience using all of your Senses:

Ears for Listening . . . Birds and Squirrels Chirping, Trees Swaying, Water Babbling.
Eyes for Seeing . . . Trees, Creatures, Leaves, Water, Sunshine. 
Nose for Smelling . . . Evergreens, Moss, Flowers.
Mouth for Tasting . . . Dandelions, Edible Mushrooms.  
Hands for Touching . . Moss, Leaves, Stones, Twigs. 
Arms to . . . HUG a Tree. 

The Forest is just waiting for us to take advantage of her many Gifts.  

Benefits of Forest Bathing

Spending time in Mother Nature and more importantly Bathing in a Forest, has many Health Benefits, one of which is Stress Reduction.  It can Lower Cortisol Levels which is the Hormone associated with Stress.

When you Bathe in the Forest, the Tranquility of the Forest and her Surroundings, contribute to a ReVitalizing Experience.  And when this happens, one usually feels ReFreshed and Invigorated and feelings of Fatigue leave the Body.
