KITCHEN DETOX

Did You Know that the Average Household Kitchen Contains over 200 Synthetic Chemicals and Toxins?

And what's even more Shocking, is that 80% of Food Products in an Average Kitchen Contain Added Sugars, Unhealthy Fats, or Artificial Ingredients, GMO's, Sprayed Waxes and Fertilizers to name a few, that can Negatively Impact our Health and that of our Family.

From Processed Foods to Harmful Preservatives, what we Eat, Drink, Use and Store can Significantly Influence our Well-Being.

W.T.F?   (Where's The FUEL?)

The Kitchen is usually the Heart of the Home,  and The Hub.

It's important to ask ourselves, is our Kitchen Full of Healthy, or Unhealthy Choices?

When we look in our Kitchen Cupboards, Fridge, Freezer and Pantry, are we actually Storing FUEL?

Each item that we have, should be there to Nourish our Bodies, Keep us Healthy and Give us Abundant Energy, and if it's not, then we need to ask "W.T.F?" (Where's The FUEL?)

When we Stock our Kitchen with Unhealthy Foods, it Contributes to Poor Health, Weight Gain and even, Chronic Diseases!

What's in Your Fridge?

A BIG Question to ask ourselves is . . .

What Exactly IS in our Kitchen?

Are our Cupboards and Pantry Full of Store-Bought Salty Snacks, Food Packages, Canned Foods like Soup, Tomato Sauce and Vegetables, Boxes Full of Cereals, Pastas and White Rice, Bags of White Flour, Instant Food and Dessert Mixes?

Do we Stock Vegetable Oils, Refined Grains, Soup and Dip Mixes, Baking Toppings such as Non-Food Grade Sprinkles?

Is our Fridge Full of Take-Out Leftovers, Fast Food, Processed Foods like Luncheon Meats, Sugary Drinks, Pops and Sodas, and Salad Dressings? 

When we look inside our Freezer, is it full of Frozen Fast Food, Ice Cream, Frozen Cakes, Pastries, White Breads and, Pre-Package Meat Meals? 

If so, then probably these items are not that Healthy for our Bodies to THRIVE and Create Energy.

Can we even Understand the Ingredient List?

If not, then maybe we shouldn't be Consuming it!

And, on top of that, WHEN was the last time we Looked at the Expiry Label on our Cans, Packages, Mixes etc?

It's time to Really take a Look into our Cupboards and Pantries, and Go through what we Actually are Storing to Eat and Drink that will Nourish our Bodies.

It's time to Really take a Look into our Refrigerator and Freezer, and See what is Food or FUEL.

We have been Marketed to so Heavily, that we have become Main-Stream Consumers of a 'Pre-Packaged Food World'. 

Just Take Note of How many Aisles there are in Conventional Grocery Stores compared to Fresh Produce Aisles!

So How do we Detox our Kitchens? 

It Starts by Doing a Kitchen Kleanup!

We must Start with a Kitchen Kleanup!

The FIRST STEP is to GET RID OF:  Sugar-Laden, Overly Salty, Vegetable Oil Enriched, and Heavily Processed Convenience Foods.

By doing this, we will be Free from a lot of Harmful Chemicals and Toxins that may have been keeping us Sick and Unhealthy!

We will no longer be Tempted by Foods that cause us to Gain Weight, Feel Heavy and Tired, and make us want to eat MORE of the Unhealthy Options, because they won't be in our Kitchen!

The SECOND STEP is to thoroughly CLEAN our Appliances, Cupboards and Pantry (inside and out) with Non-Toxic Cleaning Products.

Having a Clean Kitchen is a GAME-CHANGER for our Overall Health, Wellness and Vitality!

And LASTLY, FILL our Fridge, Freezer, Cupboards and Pantry with HEALTHY Options.

When we do this, we will be more Vigilant in Keeping it this way!

It's time to Fill our Cupboards, Pantries, Fridge and Freezer with items that are Tasty and Healthy!

It's time to look at our Fridge as our FUEL HOLDER and Respect it by keeping it Clean, Pristine and Free of Unhealthy Clutter!

It's time to make our Choices Healthy ones!

Unhealthy Food may be Cheap Now . . . 

Just know , it will be Costly later - with our Health and Wellness!

Better to Eliminate the Junk now, pay for Quality Food now, and Enjoy our Health and Wellness NOW!

And, when we only have Healthy Options, that's what we will end up Choosing!

TOP 10 UNHEALTHY FOODS 

and TOP 10 HEALTHY Alternatives

Here are the Top Ten Unhealthy Food Items commonly Found in the Kitchen, along with Healthier, Plant Based Alternatives that can make a Real Difference in our Health, Wellness and Vitality:

#1 Cereals:

These are Loaded with Added Refined Sugars, Artificial Flavors and Colours! 

These Cereals cause Spikes in Blood Sugar Levels and Contribute to Weight Gain and a Higher Risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

Healthier Option:

Instead, Soak some Buckwheat, Add Almond Mylk and Top with Fresh Fruits, Nuts, Seeds, and Drizzle a little Maple Syrup, for a Nutrient-Packed and Naturally Sweet Start to the Day!

#2 Processed Meats:

Items like Bacon, Hot Dogs and Deli Meats are Full of Sodium (unhealthy Salt), Nitrates and Preservatives which have All been Linked to Heart Disease and Cancer! 

Healthier Option:

Choose Plant Based Alternatives like Tempeh Bacon, Black Bean Sausages and Seitan Meats and, Black Bean Burgers which offer similar Textures and Flavors without the Harmful Additives.

#3 Sugary Drinks:

Sodas, Pops and Energy Drinks are one of the Biggest Sources of Added Sugars in our Diets Today! 

They Contribute to Tooth Decay, Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes!  

Healthier Option:

Replace them with Fresh, Organic Fruit Juices, Sparkling or Spring Water Infused with Fresh Fruits and Juices, for a Hydrating and Refreshing Alternative! 

#4 Refined Grains:

Refined Grains like White Rice, White Flower and White Breads, have been Stripped of their Fiber and Nutrients, leading to Blood Sugar Spikes and especially Weight Gain.

Healthier Option:

Opt for Whole Grain or Sprouted Grain Bread and, Wild Rice which are Rich in Fiber, and keeps us Feeling Full longer.

#5 Canned Convenience:

Canned Soup and Vegetables are often High in Sodium and often Contain BPA (Cancer-Causing Chemicals) from Can Linings.

These Convenience Products can Contribute to High Blood Pressure and other Health Issues.

Healthier Option:

Make HomeMade Soups using Fresh or Frozen Vegetables.  Use Plant Based Soup Cubes or Low-Sodium Vegetable Broth.  Add Herbs and Spices to Taste.

Making our own Home Cooked Meals, gives us Control over what we Consume!

#6 Frozen Foods:

These Convenience Frozen Foods are usually Packed with Unhealthy Fats, Sodium and Preservatives making them a Poor Choice for Regular Consumption.

Healthier Option:

Buy Plant Based Crusted Pizza Bottoms and, Make Home-Made Pizza at Home. Top with Favorite Veggies for an Extra Healthy Boost!

Make a few and Freeze them for Future use.

#7 Ready-Made Dressings:

Many Store-Bought Salad Dressings are Full of Added Sugars, Unhealthy Oils and Preservatives, which Diminish and Disguise our Salads! 

Healthier Option:

It is so Easy to Whip Up our own Salad Dressings! 

With a little Olive Oil, Lemon Juice, Herbs and Spices, we can Create a Nutritious and Delicious Topping for our Salads.

#8 Snacks:

Most Snacks are Double Fried in Unhealthy Oils and Contain Unhealthy Fats and GMO's. (Read our Blog on GMO's)

These Culprits Contribute to Weight Gain, Unhealthy Addiction and Increased Cholesterol Levels.

Healthier Option:

Choose Baked Kale Chips, Air-Popcorn and, Air-Fried or Baked Chips for a Healthier Crunch!

Or, make Home-Made Kale or Zucchini Chips in a Dehydrator!

#9 Sweets:

Sweet Treats are often High in Added Sugars, Unhealthy Fats and, Artificial Ingredients that can lead to a host of Health Issues including Obesity and Cavities.

Healthier Option:

We can Satisfy our Sweet Tooth with Home-Made Energy Balls Sweetened with Maple Syrup or Dates, and Topped with Dried Fruits, Nuts, Coconut Flakes and Seeds.

#10 Vegetable Oils:

Vegetable Oils are UnHealthy because they are Highly Processed, and if they are not Organic, they are made from GMO Crops.

These Oils are often Hidden in the Ingredient lists! 

Hydrogenated Oils like:  Corn Oil are made from Corn Kernels, Soybean Oil from Soya Beans, and Canola Oil from Rapeseed (cheap oil), Contain Unhealthy Trans Fats, Contributing to Inflammation and Chronic Diseases! 

Cooking with these Oils Releases High Concentrations of Toxic Chemicals.

NOTE:  'Vegetable' Oil can contain a Mixture of the above.

Healthier Option:

Use Healthier Oils like Cold-Pressed, Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Avocado Oil, both made from Fruits, are Rich in Healthy Fats, and Lower in Inflammatory Compounds.​
