SEEKing  A D V E N T U R E


When we looked up the Definition of ADVENTURE, it was a little scary depending on which side of Adventure you're on, and the meaning it represents to you.  We tend to have our 'own' Definition of Adventure.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, Adventure is "an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity'.  YIKES!

What we are here to say, is that Adventures don't always have to be "Hazardous". 

Engaging in Exciting Activities can be as low-KEY as going on a Spontaneous Road Trip to Culinary Explorations, or Spending time Exploring Cultural Treasures in our own City or Town. 

We don't need to BASE Jump off a Cliff to Experience a FUN Adventure! (Unless of course, we want too!)  By the way, BASE is an Acronym that stands for Four Fixed Object Categories (Buildings, Antennas, Span/Bridge and Earth).

The Transformative Power of Adventures

As we go through this Life of ours, Seeking out Adventures helps us Transform and Create a sense of Overall Well-Being.

By savoring our Adventures and Experiences (BIG or small), we start to Expand in all Directions - Physically, Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually. 

Everything starts with MINDset:

When we Open our MINDs, Learn New Things, and Experience New Adventures, our Brains produce New Neurons, which are Cells that Send and Receive Signals. This process is called 'Neural Plasticity' or 'Brain Plasticity'. 

These Cells Create and Develop New Connections which makes our Neural Pathways Stronger.

This results in Increasing our Cognitive Flexibility, Contributes to Reducing our Stress Levels, Increases our Moods, Improves our Focus, and Enhances our Depth of Thought and Thinking.

By Stepping Outside of our MENTAL Comfort Zone, we UnLock the Transformative Power of Adventure. 

We start to Cultivate a Sense of Wonder, Curiosity and Joy.  This in turn, Helps us Infuse our Lives with Excitement, Anticipation and Joy. 

Our Adventures await us. 

Let's get into the Adventure together . . .  

A Roadmap to Adventure:

Here are 3 Easy Steps, a Road Map to SEEKing Adventure:

#1.  Gather Information:
As we Prepare for our Adventure, doing some Information Gathering, Research and Studying Protocols to Familiarize ourselves, will lesson our Anxiety and Stress of the Unknown.  

EXAMPLE:
Let's say we want to Experience the Adventure of going under Niagara Falls.  We research the company that Operates the Boats, find out what we Need, Cost etc, so that when we are there, we can be Fully Engaged in our Adventure.

#2.  Have a Plan and Embrace Spontaneity:

Having a Plan Creates somewhat of a Safety Net by knowing some Background Information.   Once we have that, we can allow ourselves to become Curious and let our Curiosity be our Compass.

EXAMPLE:
We want to go for a Hike in a Specific Area, we map out our Route taking our MAP with us.  However, when we see another Route, we just go for it and start Exploring.  Allowing our Curiosity to lead, we may Stumble upon Unexpected Wonders, like a Hidden Waterfalls, or Breathtaking Vistas.  This Enriches our Adventure through the Experiences we are Enjoying.   

#3.  JUST DO IT!
Embracing the "JUST DO IT✔" MINDset means, Breaking Free from Hesitation, OverThinking and Procrastinating.  By taking Immediate Action towards our Desired Adventure, we begin to Break Free from the Mental Chains that Hold us back.  We do this by identifying a Simple Adventure (Activity) that piques our interest and requires Minimal Planning or Preparation. 

EXAMPLE:
By dusting off our Bike, putting it in/on our car, and heading to our Local Park, we are Seizing the Moment and Embarking on an Adventure!  Just Doing it requires us to take the First Step, which will ultimately help us Embrace our Adventure.  As we Peddle through the Tranquil Paths, we will get Immersed in the Sights and Sounds of Wild Life, Nature, and perhaps Kidz Playing, and we might even Find a Treasure along the way turning an Ordinary Day into an Extraordinary Adventure!

A Few Examples of Simple Adventures:

Plan a Picnic:
It's always an Adventure when we Picnic on the Beach or in a Park.  There's always something going on and people to watch.  There may even be Activities that would welcome more people to join in.

Visit a Sanctuary:
Visiting Animals that have been Rescued is Heart-Warming, brings Joy and, a sense of Understanding how Animals are Mistreated by Humans.  The Drive to the Sanctuary alone, could be the Adventure!

Try GLAMping:
GLAMping is an Adventure because we get to bring as much as we want.  The Facilities are usually Up-Scale, and Accessories are Provided for.  Nothing like Star Gazing in a Comfortable Bed Outside - well sort of.  What's not to Love?

FORAGEing:
Searching for our PLANT-Based FUEL is FUN, and also an Adventure!   Looking for those Tall, Pristine Dandelion Leaves for our GREEN Drinks is a Seeking Adventure for sure!  We know VeRAWonica Loves to do this!

A Few Examples of 'Hazardous' Adventures:

Scuba Diving:
Scuba diving is an Exhilarating Adventure that Immerses us into a World of Wonder Under Water. It can be Exciting, Thrilling and Awesome.  This Adventure causes us to Experience Freedom gliding through the water as we Encounter Vibrant Marine Life and Interesting Landscapes. This also tests our Physical capabilities and Natural Instincts.

BASE Jumping:
For Adrenaline-Junkies, this is the Ultimate in Thrill-Seeking Adventure.  Leaping off of Drop-Down Cliffs and Sky-High Buildings into the Open Sky, is not for the Faint-of-Heart. With Heart-Racing and Senses Heightened, each Jump is a Daring Feat that Defies Gravity and Pushes Human Limits. Soaring through the air with Speed and Grace, the Exhilaration of Freefalling and the Rush of Landing Safely, make BASE Jumping a Thrill-Seeking, and Potentially Hazardous Adventure. 

Race Car Driving:
Speed Freaks love Speed and Racing Cars provides this Speed-Driven Adventure. Drivers experience an Adrenaline Rush, Exhilaration and the Thrill of Speed, testing Skill and Will.  Physically, Race Car Drivers are subjected to intense forces, including G-forces during Acceleration, Braking, and Cornering those Hair-Pin turns, which leads to increased Heart Rate, Heightened Senses, and Heightened Awareness needed to Focus, as they Navigate High-Speed Maneuvers and Compete for Victory.  

Bungee Jumping:
An Exhilarating Adventure!  Free-Falling from High Places, Plummeting straight Down towards the Ground, and then Rebounding back up, and Repeat, is an Adrenaline Rush and can be extremely Dangerous.  The jolting on the Body, especially the Spine, is not for Everyone! It is however, for those that Seek out Thrilling, Dangerous and Hazardess Adventures!

MOST Adventures are Healthy for us!   They Help us Physically, Mentally, Emotionally and Spiritually.

Physical Health Benefits:
Engaging in Adventurous Activities Promotes Physical Fitness and Vitality!   Whether it's Hiking, Biking or BASE Jumping, these Adventures offer Opportunities for Movement and Exercise that Strengthens our Bodies.  

​Mental Health Benefits:
Adventures Stimulates our MINDS.  They Encourage Mental Clarity and Creativity. By Challenging ourselves to go on Adventures, our Brains Problem-Solve and Encourages Deep Thinking.  

Emotional Health Benefits:
Adventures are FUN.  We would not do them otherwise.  The Excitement and Exhilaration Improves our Mood, thereby Reducing our Stress and Anxiety Levels

Spiritual Health Benefits:
Going on and Experiencing Adventures Uplifts our Spirits.  As we connect with Nature and the World around us, we tend to Feel Awe, Wonder and brings forth Introspection.  We become Grateful and MINDful in the Experiences of our Adventures. 

Go Forth and SEEK ADVENTURE!

Adventure is not limited to Grand Expeditions in Far off Lands.  It's not limited to Deep Dives into the Abyss.  It's not limited to Flinging ourselves off of a 100 Story Building's Top Tower. 

Adventure is doing something where we can Embrace the Spirit of Curiosity, Exploration and Discovery.

We can turn Every Day Moments into Extra-Ordinary Adventures with just a little Imagination and Drive.

Adventures Create Experiences and those Feelings Create Memories.
