What Are GMOs and How Did They Come About?

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are Foods that have had their DNA Scientifically Altered in a Laboratory to Achieve Specific Traits.

These Modifications might include making crops Resistant to Pests, Tolerant to Herbicides, or capable of Growing Faster and Larger.

GMOs were First introduced in the 1990s with the Promise of increasing Crop Yields, Reducing the Use of Pesticides, and Feeding a Growing Global Population.

However, over time, Concerns have Grown about the Environmental and Health impacts of these Genetically Engineered Foods.

The Key Difference Between GMO and Non-GMO

The simplest way to understand the Difference between GMO and NON-GMO is this:

GMO Foods have had their DNA Altered in a Lab to have New Traits, while NON-GMO Foods are left in their Natural State, Grown without Genetic Modification.

NON-GMO Foods are produced through Traditional Methods like Crossbreeding and Seed Selection, without Interference in their Genetic Makeup.

In essence, GMO Foods are Science-Created, while NON-GMO Foods are Nature-Created.

Organic Food is better for Wildlife as there are no Pesticides and/or Toxins that can Harm or Kill them.

Why Are NON-GMO Foods Labeled but GMO Foods Are Not?

One of the most frustrating things for many of us is that GMO Foods are Not Required to carry a Label.  Did you READ that?

This is largely due to Lobbying by Large Agricultural Corporations that want to Avoid Consumer Hesitation.

🥔 Potatoes (Innate varieties) - Modified to reduce bruising and black spots.

🍍 Pink Pineapple - Genetically engineered for color and sweetness.
