Anxiety 

Dealing with ANXIETY has become an Increasingly Common Occurrence that affects MILLIONS of People World-Wide.

It is Crucial to Understand What Anxiety is, How it Happens, What Triggers it, and Most Importantly, How to Heal Holistically. 

Anxiety is Manageable and can even be Overcome, with the right Tools, Techniques, MINDset SHIFTs and Changes to our FUELstyle and LIFEstyle.

This Blog will go over these points that can help those Suffering from Anxiety, Heal Effectively.

What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety is a Natural Response to STRESS.

It's our Body's way of Preparing for a Potential Threat, often referred to as the “fight-or-flight” response.

When Anxiety Kicks in, our Body Releases Stress Hormones like Cortisol and Adrenaline, to prepare our Body to react.

We can Experience Anxiety in Non-Threatening Everyday Scenarios that we have Created in our MIND!

We can Create Stories on just about anything we Find 'Threatening' . . . Meetings, Social Interactions, Relationships, Finances, Driving etc.

When we think about THOUGHTS that Cause us Anxiety, we tend to FEEL Worried, Nervous, Fearful and, Un-Easy about Something in the Immediate Future, especially when we are Unsure of a Certain Outcome or, when Something Feels Difficult to Control.

Physically, we can Experience Heart Palpitations, Shallow Breathing, Sweating, Muscle Tension, Restlessness, Headaches etc.

When our Anxiety becomes Persistent, Severe, and Interferes with our Daily Life, it can turn into an Anxiety Disorder.

How Does Anxiety Happen?


Anxiety can be Triggered by a Variety of Factors and here are the Most Common: 

#1 STRESS:
Whether it’s related to Work, Relationships, Finances, or Health, Chronic Stress is one of the Most Significant Contributors to Anxiety.

When Stress Becomes a Constant Presence in our Life, our Body is Perpetually in a Heightened State of Alert, making it Easier for Anxiety to take hold of us.

#2  BRAIN CHEMISTY:
Imbalances in NeuroTransmitters in our Brain (like Serotonin, Dopamine, and GABA), can contribute to FEELings of Anxiety.

A few things these Chemicals do, is help Regulate Mood, and helps our Bodies Relax, so when they are Out-of-Balance, the Result can be an Increased Level of Anxiety.

#3  LIFEstyle FACTORS:
Lack of Sleep, an Unhealthy Diet, Little to No Exercise or Exposure to Sunlight, can Heighten Anxiety.

Our Body and MIND are Inter-Connected, and what we do Physically, affects how we THINK Mentally, and therefore FEEL Emotionally.

#4  MAJOR LIFE EVENTS:
Major Life Events and Significant Life Changes can Contribute to Chronic Anxiety.

Job Loss, Relationship and Family Issues, and Financial Problems, can Accelerate Anxiety.

#5  HEALTH:
Poor Health and Living with a Serious Illness can also contribute to Ongoing Anxiety.

Drinking Alcohol, Caffeine and Smoking can also cause Heighten Anxiety.

3 Ways to Heal Anxiety Naturally

There are Many Natural Ways to Manage, Reduce and even Overcome Anxiety.

Holistic Approaches such as, Healthier LIFEstyle Changes, Positive MINDset SHIFTs and Adopting a HIGH-Nutrient RAW Plant Based FUELstyle, can all have a Profound Impact on Healing our Anxiety.

#1 - Physical Techniques:

1. Grounding 
When Anxiety Strikes, one of the Best Ways to Calm Down is by Grounding ourselves through the 5-4-3-2-1 Technique. 

This Technique helps us Divert our MIND away from Anxious THOUGHTS by:

5:  Noticing FIVE Things we SEE around us.
4:  Naming FOUR Things we can TOUCH. 
3:   Listening to THREE Things we can HEAR.
2:   Identifying TWO Things we can SMELL.
1:   Naming ONE Thing we can TASTE.

This Method Keeps us in the Present, and SHIFTs our THOUGHTs away from our Anxiety. 

2. Deep Breathing 
Breathing Deeply can help us when we are Feeling Anxious.

In order to keep our Physical Symptoms in Check, Box Breathing is an Effective Technique by:

1.  INHALE for FOUR seconds.
2.  HOLD our Breath for FOUR seconds.
3.  EXHALE for FOUR seconds.
4.  HOLD for FOUR more seconds.

Repeating this for a few minutes, can help us Calm our Nervous System and Return to a State of Balance. 

3. Activity
Physical Exercise is a Natural Stress Reliever.

When we are Physically Active, our Body Releases Endorphins, which improves our Mood, and therefore Reduces Symptoms of Anxiety.

When we do a minimum of 30 minutes of Exercise and/or Physical Activity every day, like Walking, Cycling, Swimming etc, we Simply Feel Better.

#2 - MINDset SHIFTs

Changing the way we THINK has EVERYTHING to do with how we FEEL.
 
1. MINDset SHIFTing
This involves identifying and Challenging Negative Thoughts by:

When we Notice a Negative Thought, ask ourselves these questions:
a)  Is this THOUGHT based on Facts or Feelings?
b)  What Evidence do I have that this THOUGHT is True or False?
c)  How would I view this situation if I were FEELing Calmer?

We need to Understand that the ONLY thing we CAN CONTROL is our THOUGHTS.
❌We cannot Control:
❌The Weather
❌The Past
❌Other People's Behaviours.

We can ONLY Control HOW we THINK about those Things.

2. Positive Affirmations
Repeating Positive Statements can help us Re-WIRE our BRAIN for more Positivity.

Our SubConscious MIND is Always Listening, so even if we don't believe our Statements yet, our SubConscious Does!

Ways to Re-Wire our Brain is by Saying, Writing, Reading and Repeating Positive Statements like:
✔ I am capable and strong.
✔ I can handle whatever comes my way.
✔ I've got this!

3. Gratitude Journaling
Focusing on what we're Thankful and Grateful for can SHIFT our MINDset.

When we incorporate the Daily Practice of Writing Down at Least THREE Things we're Grateful for, this helps us SHIFT our Negative Thoughts to Positive ones, which can help alleviate our Anxiety.

#3 - Up-Leveling FUELstyle 

What we Put into our MINDs and What we put into our Bodies, Creates Us and, our Outlook on Life.

They are Really the ONLY TWO THINGS WE CAN CONTROL . . . What we put into our MINDs and MOUTH.

What we Eat and Drink Plays a Significant Role on how we FEEL. 

1. The Brain-Gut Connection
Our Brain and Gut are Connected, and a Healthy Gut can Positively Influence our Mood and our Anxiety Levels.
